The Essence of Philosophy
137 Philosophies in Alphabetical Order
Saul Silas Fathi
About the Book
The essence of philosophy is the pursuit of fundamental knowledge and understanding. It is a discipline that asks the most basic questions about existence, reality, knowledge, value, reason, mind, and language. Philosophers have been grappling with these questions for centuries, and there is no one definitive answer to any of them. But that doesn’t make philosophy any less valuable. In fact, it is precisely because these questions are so difficult to answer that philosophy is so important.Philosophy is not just a theoretical exercise. It has practical implications for our everyday lives. For example, our philosophical beliefs about the nature of reality and knowledge influence our decisions about what to believe, how to live, and how to treat others. Our philosophical beliefs about value and ethics influence our decisions about what is right and wrong, good and bad. And our philosophical beliefs about reason and mind influence our decisions about how to think and how to learn.
In short, philosophy is essential for anyone who wants to live a thoughtful and reflective life. It helps us to understand ourselves, the world around us, and our place in it. It also helps us to think critically, to make informed decisions, and to live a good life.”

Iceman of the Apocalypse
Timothy McDonnell
About the Book
Deputy Sloan Wallace participates in a scientific experiment, ingesting a pill that was told would only be temporary. Turned out the pill was a permanent implant, which was part of a radical new experiment performed by a desperate scientist out of time. Scarred by the process, Sloan abruptly left the experiment, hoping to continue with his normal life, until his world was turned upside down by the apocalypse.About the Author
Inspiration is a funny thing… you’ll never know where it will come from. I haven’t watched a lot of TV in my later years, until a show about the zombie apocalypse caught my attention. I would watch the show religiously, and later the show became a part of my life here in Michigan. Most fans would follow their favorite actor or actress. Some fans would even go to a Comicon. It inspired me to write. I never thought I would be writing about the zombie apocalypse, but I could not resist. The ideas just kept flowing and I just kept writing. This journey started in 2015 and you are about to read the conclusion of the first chapter in a new saga. Maybe this is one worth reading. All the readers out there will be the judge. I hope you find this story entertaining. I wish you all the best. — Timothy McDonnell -
STOP trying to prove YOU’RE right AND START proving GOD is right
Eugene Abe
About the Book
“This book was impressed on me by the Lord, to wright these messages in poetic form. Never did anything like this in my life. As God would give me little titles I would wright them on paper which I kept in my pocket. Then most times within a week or two it would end up as a sermon in poetic form. This book covers multiple subjects which each of us face in life.
This book is designed for whoever reads this book, to cause you to think things out, and then to form your own thinking as how God would have you process it.
The emphasis of this book is to read and study it with an open mind, as you study the scriptures on your own. The reason there are few scriptures in this book is to cause you to want to search the scriptures yourself, to prove whether it is right or wrong. That is why God’s word informs us in 2 Timothy 2: 15, “Study to show thyself approved unto God a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
This scripture informs us that we are to study God’s word in order to find what God requires of us, what he empresses on our heart as taught by Jesus to us in Matthew 25: 14-30.
When we read and study God’s Word, read it with an open mind, asking him what he has for you today. We will never know it all, for we will keep learning till Jesus comes, or we leave this earth. Never allow people to put a guilt trip on you that you must know it all.”About the Author
It has been an amazing journey for this 74 year old man which has been a Christian for 62 years. Yet it has taken him to heights in the Lord, which he never dreamed possible. This has been an amazing journey for him as God has put a zeal in his heart like never before. For a man which never liked to study, and English was one of his worst subjects, yet God has put a hunger in his heart to be sure he knows the word properly. He has taken to heart, that he can be wrong in his thinking, and that he is more than willing to change to God’s way rather than his own thinking. He is not interested in man’s thoughts, but only God’s. Knowing That Christ is coming soon.
Because of his hunger for the truth, God woke him up one night and gave him the thought, which has become the title of this book. He is totally convinced that any one which puts this truth in effect in their life, their life will be totally renewed in Christ. So much of the teaching which he once embraced was proven to be nothing but half-truth. It has given him a greater zeal than ever before, to find truth.

Keep on Paddling
True Adventures in the Boundary Waters Wilderness
Roy Cerny
About the Book
The events in these true tales of the canoe country of northern Minnesota and Ontario were compiled over the authors’ lifetime of experiences in the woods. Working with Boy Scouts and in his later years with employees, friends, family, and folks from his church, the author has led perhaps over 500 people on trips into the Boundary Waters. The experiences on these trips over the past 50 years have provided a wealth of material that the author has crafted into enjoyable stories.
Some of the stories are educational, many are hilarious, more than a few are inspirational, all of them are entertaining. Each story stands alone but the book is best read from the front. Words followed by asterisks are defined in a glossary for readers unfamiliar with canoeing or the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. After reading this book, the author hopes you will be better informed about the lake country, you will have a greater appreciation for the wilderness, and you might even be encouraged to take a canoe trip to see Gods’ country for yourself. If this is true, then the author has succeeded in his purpose.About the Author
Roy Cerny, the author of this collection of true tales, renews his love of the outdoors almost every summer, spending some time revisiting the canoe country that has become such a big part of his life. First paddling the canoe trails as a scout in the summer of 1959, he was awestruck by the beauty, the sounds and smells, the flora and fauna, and the immensity of the Quetico and Boundary Waters wilderness. It was so different from the South Dakota prairie where he grew up.
Just a few years later, he began summer employment at the Charles L. Sommers Boy Scout Canoe Base as a guide, taking Boy Scouts on eight-day canoe trips into the wilderness. It was the most fun and rewarding job he ever had and provided the background for majority of the tales in this book. He loves to see what is around the next point, what is beyond the horizon, what is over the next hill – and he loves to find out by paddling there in his canoe. In his later years, he is still taking church groups, friends, and family members into the North Woods that he has grown to love. He and his wife, Midge, and their families all live in the land of ten thousand lakes, Minnesota, residing near each other in South Saint Paul, just a four-hour drive away from the Bound. -

Betsy and Catherine: An Uncommon Friendship
A Revised and Revisited Edition
Helen Gailey
About the Book
Set in eighteenth-century London, England. This fictional novel touches on the life of the upper crust and those who served them. As they both come together, foolish choices and harrowing consequences take two women—one an aristocrat and the other her servant—into a storm of trial, scorn, and tribulation. Stripped of title, recognition, and value, one wonders who the heroine really is, Catherine or Betsy? Catherine repeatedly asks, “How will Lord Edward find us?” A twisted and perverse judge condemns these two women to the Australian colonies. What is his motivation? Why would he want to hurt two women he’d never seen before? When everything about her life and station no longer has meaning, tears flow for Catherine. What has she done? Her foolishness has bought shame both on herself and her dearest friend, Betsy. How can she go on if they are parted? As Betsy looks back in time, her memories share love, concern, and deep anxiety. As she looks forward, she questions, “Am I worthy of kindness above my station?”
