I’ve Been There…I Feel Your Pain
eWw
About the Book
At the time in my life when I decided to put my life together, from the years which had passed by, I would express to my friends the different situations I had been in and out of. At that time, most couldn’t relate to the issues that presented itself and all suggested that I should write about that which took place during those time in my life. It painful. As I continued to work on it, I realized it wasn’t for me, but someone that maybe going thru similar situations that could possibly need help to get them thru as it did for me thru it all. I found my purpose and reason that made me the person I am today, many years later. I thank my Heavenly Father, In the name of Jesus, for never leaving, me and bringing me to where I am today and who I have become. I had to be broken to be made whole in my Father’s eyes for him to be able to use me. I will serve him till my last breathe for choosing me. Thank you, Abba-Father, in your son Jesus the Christ’s name for loving me, using me, and never leaving me… Your Daughter…with Love. EWAbout the Author

To My Best Girl
Courage, Honor, and Love in the Civil War: The Inspiring Life Stories of Rufus Dawes and Mary Gates
Steve Magnusen
About the Book
Behind all descriptions of historical events are the stories of real people. This is the extraordinary true story of a citizen soldier and the girl he loves, as both become embroiled in the cauldron of our nation’s Civil War.
Rufus R Dawes will emerge from a troubled family background to become an officer in a famous unit thrust into horrific battles in the eastern theater. But before those stirring war scenes, there is the early life of a proud and intelligent descendant of leading Revolutionary War figures, ancestors who helped form the United States, the Northwest Territory, and the state of Ohio.
Rufus will meet beautiful and vibrant Mary Beman Gates and fall in love. But there is separation due to distance and social standing, apparently little reciprocal feeling, and competition by others better situated than he. Can it ever become more than infatuation? The outbreak of war intervenes. Faced with the doubt of his own survival, is it possible to fulfill any dream of a life with Mary?
Mary is a girl with a loving family who becomes a young woman while witnessing many acquaintances and suitors, along with an only brother, march off to war. Tragic battle losses soon mount. Will she—should she—become involved with a soldier whose life is in daily jeopardy far away?
The drama unfolds upon Rufus and Mary, and upon family members and soldiers who experience their own battles, trying to survive while patriotically performing their duty to the nation. Based on many letters and diary entries, most never published, this is a timeless story of love and courage.About the Author
Steve Magnusen enjoyed a nationally recognized engineering career in north suburban Chicago after receiving his degree from Purdue University. He has led several professional and non-profit organizations, and served fifteen years as an infantry and armor officer in the US Army Reserve.

Thanks Be To God: A Minister’s Memoir
Larry LaPierre
About the Book
The author is a retired United Methodist minister and a former Department of Veterans Affairs Chief Chaplain. He writes about a series of people to whom he owes a debt of gratitude for the difference that they made in his life. When asked how he got to be a minister after working in laboratories for eighteen years, he responds, “It’s a long story but the short version of it is that I had a twenty-one year argument with God.” Most people pause and then say, “And God won.” Yes, God won! The book describes how God worked through many people to equip him to face changes in denomination, career path and education. The book originates with a desire to thank the people who helped him to make the changes that God called him to make. This, in turn, began with a decision by the United Methodist Church conference where he holds membership to limit retiring pastors to no more than a three minute talk at their retirement ceremony. He decided that there were far too many people to thank to even begin to try in a three minute speech. This book is the result of his desire to thank those who helped him as he struggled to become the person God needed him to be at each stage in his life.

The author is a retired United Methodist minister who pastored a number of small churches in northern New England. He was also a chaplain at the Veterans Hospital in Vermont for twelve years.
