About the Author
On Wednesday, January 16th, 1929, my dad, who was pastor of a local church in the city of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, had scheduled a workday at the church. As he was getting ready to leave the house on this frozen, icy day, he picked up his hammer and headed to the door of our house, when my mom said in a tone not usually heard in her voice, “You’re not going to work at the church today, our baby is coming!”My brother who had heard the conversation exclaimed, “that’s just another egg”. He was responsible for taking care of the chickens our family relied on for breakfast and other meals.
Our family moved often, because of his ministry, and I attended eight different schools. I graduated from Isaac Litton High School on one night and married W. C. Langford, from Jackson, Tennessee, the next. I met my future husband at a District Council in Milan, Tennessee as I played the piano for my dad who was District Superintendent. I was at the ripe old age of sixteen. I travelled over the entire state of Tennessee. I committed to myself that I would never marry a preacher.
God had a different plan.

An Irishman by Now
An American Boy’s Tale of Passion and Discovery in Rural Ireland
R. Michael McEvilley
About the Book
““…Excellent, a rattling good story… a serious pleasure to read… (McEvilley is) a born storyteller.”–Eamonn Sweeney, literary critic, best-selling author, journalist, Cork, Ireland
Mickey Monaghan never intended to tell anyone that he was adopted. After all, his adoptive aunt and uncle had instilled in him–since age 3 when they had brought him from America to their sheep farm in Ireland—that he’d be “looked down upon” if people knew.
But at age 22, as he nears college graduation with business and political aspirations, his parish priest Father McDermott and his long-time best friend Caitlin O’Connor confront him with their own concerns for his future. Father McDermott is troubled by Mickey’s philandering lifestyle, and Caitlin by an oddly disturbing slip of his tongue about family secrets; and both Father McDermott and Caitlin can see what Mickey won’t–that he and Caitlin belong together.
Add in a death at Mickey’s hands and his reckless tryst with a married woman, and he’s ready to open up. Alas, his own secrets lead to others–and to a tale more startling than any of them had imagined.”
About the Author
R. Michael McEvilley practiced law in Cincinnati, Ohio until retirement. He now resides in Kentucky with his wife, Irish trad singer Mai. He has four children and five grandchildren. He began work on this, his first novel, after reading his newspaper horoscope suggesting he “do something creative.”

The Rebirth
Jack Schauer
About the Book
It is Paris 2005. Albert Camus, Jean-Paul Sartre, and a Catholic priest by the name of Farther Brody have survived into older age. They are debating past and current trends in philosophy as they meet in a number of coffeehouses and night clubs throughout Paris. They are also tracing historical philosophy back to its roots within the present perspective of the American Iraqi War. Camus is now a Christian Catholic, Jean-Paul Sartre, still, the committed Marxist Socialist is on the verge of a mental breakdown and ripe for religious conversion. The stage is set for a tragic ending, leaving Camus questioning his faith.About the Author
Jack Lynn Schauer graduated from the University of Jamestown, Jamestown, North Dakota in December of 1980. He has two Master’s degrees: one in the Liberal Arts as well as one in Nonprofit Management. His interests, in addition to history, politics, philosophy, and issues of social welfare focus upon the various levels of spiritual development as they relate to a postmodernist crisis of modern man in a world seemingly gone crazy. Jack Schauer is also President of Angels of the Muse which provides music to underserved populations within the Fargo-Moorhead area of North Dakota and Minnesota. -

Journey Into Self
Book II, A Philosophical Autobiography
James Joseph Blaha III
About the Book
What I’d like to do, if some of the readers get confused as to exactly what an autobiographical trilogy means, is to provide a working definition.
An autobiography is a book published by me, about me. A biography is a book published about me by someone else. An autobiographical trilogy is three books.
Book 1 “Who Am I?” was published in 2010. Book 2 “Why Am I?” is being published in 2021. Book 3 “Where Am I?” will be published sometime in the future. All three books are published under the title “Journey Into Self”. Book 1 is a Psychological Autobiography. Book 2 is a Philosophical Autobiography and Book 3 will be an Astro Physical Autobiography.
Dedicated to Socrates and all the great Philosophers, Thinkers and Doers who brought us to where we are today!About the Author
Write your own story – for seniors, high school students and all those curious readers in between a unique three volume story of one’s whole, full life.
“”Learning how to develop a philosophy of and for life will make you the reader a better person””.
THINK FOR YOUSELF!!!
“”This is the second book of an autobiographical trilogy. The first book Journey Into Self answers the authors question – Who am I really? This second book develops a philosophy of and for life to answer the question – Why am I?
The author lived his first seven years in Cicero IL (Al Capone territory) in an apartment on the second floor of his grandfather’s building – Blaha’s Hall & Tavern.
The family moved to a Bohemian Bungalow in Brookfield IL when Jim was in the second grade. He became a successful professional musician while still in high school which helped pay his tuition through college. He later found, he could have had a full scholarship to Northwestern University if he played in the Marching Band. He stayed with the twelve piece Dance Band which he helped form while in high school and college.
His paradigm in life was to get into the best University that would accept him, get hired by a top corporation with a great management development training program and if lucky enough to find the love of his life, It was accomplished.
The second paradigm of his life was to have a successful career with Westinghouse, get married to Barbara the love of his life and have a family with three children. After accomplishing this, his next paradigm was to change careers, watch his family grow and his 3 sons go to college and have grandchildren. This was also accomplished and for the last twenty years he has lived his paradigm by spending winters on Okaloosa Island in his condo in Northwest Florida and summers in Naperville IL watching his grandchildren grow and graduate from college. As he said in his first book his goal is to show that anyone with mental health challenges can be happy, healthy, wise and responsibly wealthy.
His favorite autobiography is Benjamin Franklin. -
Pee Wee: Serial Killer or Homicidal Maniac
A Novelized True Crime Story, Volume I
O. Grady Query
About the Book
Pee Wee Gaskins killed without hesitation and apparently without remorse over and over again. He did so as he meandered in and out of maximum security prisons where he spent more than half of his life. Sentenced to reform school at age thirteen he honed his skills in the use of extreme violence. The horror of his crimes is played out against the backdrop of one of the most rural areas of South Carolina during the tumultuous change from absolute segregation to forced integration.
In a lifestyle of absolute lawlessness Gaskins exercised a bizarre charismatic control over the women who surrounded him and ruled his little gang of miscreants with violence and murder. Sometimes driving a hearse and bragging of a private graveyard he maintained a macabre and confusing presence to those he encountered. Diminutive at five feet three inches and one hundred thirty pounds he feared no man and struck fear in most. Undaunted by arrests and imprisonment he conducted a crusade of murder
and mayhem over nearly three decades and killed more than fifty people. His motives were as varied as his methods.About the Author
GRADY QUERY is a practicing attorney in Charleston, South Carolina. He has written the story of Pee Wee Gaskins, based on his years of representation of the diminutive mass murderer. Court appointed to represent Gaskins Query spent hundreds of hours in court, visiting crime scenes, interviewing witnesses and simply listening to his client.
is book while fictional is based largely upon those experiences and the direct information gleaned from his time with Gaskins. -
Hands Up, Don’t Shoot
Ulysses Mcdowell
About the Book
Hands Up, Don’t Shoot is an account of my initial travel to Ferguson, MO in August 2014 to visit the site where Michael Brown – another unarmed Black person – was killed by a police officer. In March of 2020, Breonna Taylor was killed by police. Then in May of 2020, George Floyd was killed by police, and like the Brown killing, I felt compelled to visit his death site because his death shocked the conscience of the world and began a movement not seen since the Civil Rights era. In August of 2020, Jacob Blake was killed by police.
