Halftime Hustler
Ralph Sanders
About the Book
Facing 350 years to life, it seems unreal and yet it was very real for me in 1996. My life was turned upside down and my hopes and dreams of playing in the NBA were shattered because of my poor choices; choices that ultimately sent me to prison for 15 years and changed my path in life. While I am still haunted by the fact that I am a two-striker and can easily fall back in to the system according to the 3-strike law, I am a changed man who sees life differently and whose mission now is to help youth not fall into the temptations that I faced. We all face trials and challenges in our lives. My story, while perhaps more dramatic than the average person, is a testament as to how one can not only survive difficult circumstances but can also come out stronger for having lived through them. My hope is to inspire and encourage readers to live their best life and to appreciate the freedoms that we all have in this country.”

About the Author
Yvan Kaprielian was born and raised in Paris, France with an Armenian Heritage and moved to the United States in 1988. After graduating High School in 1991, with a privilege of having a father in the business, Yvan decided to venture into the Diamond and Jewelry Industry. He grasped the opportunity to learn and capture the secrets of the trade. At the age of 17 he started selling diamonds, engagement and anniversary jewelry, colored gemstones, and fine watches. He seized every moment to examine and study every diamond that was in his sight. Reading gem books, trade publications and taking courses on diamonds became routine. In 1993, he completed his first Diamond Course from GIA, Gemological Institute of America. This was the inception of the destined relationship between Yvan and diamonds.
His desire to acquire more knowledge on diamonds increasing dramatically. In 1994, Yvan decided to leave the retail world and open a factory in the heart of the Diamond District in New York City. This lead to excelling in designing, diamond setting, all aspects of bench work, polishing and diamond/gemstone wholesaling. Whilst developing the art of jewelry manufacturing he discovered his innate talent and true passion – Diamonds. Yvan’s theory was that there is a story behind every piece of jewelry, especially with diamonds. He realized that wearing jewelry is a form of art that expresses each individual’s personality. He thrives when he matches a magnificent piece of jewelry with someone, as a new story is born.
After earring his Graduate Gemology degree from GIA, he asked himself: “Could there be more to diamonds than just a financial and social status symbol? What if there was a story before the story?”. That’s when obsession started knocking on the door of his mind. He started digging deeper and deeper in the mine of his Soul searching for answers and seeking to understand. The day he was ready and truly decided to open this door there stood a teacher. A teacher named Master Choa Kok Sui. He became his guiding light in the obscure and lonely path of self-discovery. Devotion, purification, meditation, self-study and helping others became the new routine.
As his questions were answered, new questions arose. Today, after twenty-six years in the diamond industry and sixteen years of self-discovery, self-analysis, inner reflection and meditation Yvan came to the conclusion that there definitely is an undeniable parallel between diamonds and humans. Since this discovery, fueled by his new passion, Yvan’s mission is to share this realization, this message with the world. -
Through the Valley of My Shadow

About the Book
Through the Valley of My Shadow is a trilogy of stories that evolved from thirteen years of healing from childhood sexual abuse. It starts with a state of denial and numbness, represented by a symbolic mythical journey. As such it honors both my psychological journey of healing and a deep spiritual healing as well.

If it happens to your child, it happens to you!
A Parent's Help-source on Sexual Assault
Christine A. Golder
About the Book
Finally, there is a handbook for parents who have had to face the horrendous ordeal of their child’s sexual assault. Most of the current literature focuses on prevention. This book is specifically to help parents in the aftermath of the assault as it is typical for parents to feel as victimized and powerless as their child. The crisis precipitates a disequilibrium that reverberates throughout the family and can have long-reaching effects unless the members seek help. The initial phase of discovery is the most crucial and how parents react toward their child at first hearing of the assault plays an important role in how the child is able to handle the crisis from that time forward.
After an introductory chapter which examines the scope of the problem, the second chapter discusses disclosure issues. It also explains what assault can entail; reactions and behavioral signals in child and adolescent victims. This chapter also discusses the perpetrator because parents often ask, “”What kind of person could do such a thing?”” The third chapter deals with issues around reporting and what to expect from the legal system. The fourth chapter focuses primarily on parental concerns, feelings and their important role in the recovery process. The fifth chapter suggests some ideas for moving beyond the personal crisis for those parents that want to do more.
About the Author
Although now retired, Ms. Golder’s career in the field of social work has spanned over four and a half decades of service. She first obtained her A.A.S. Degree in Community Service, then a B.S. Degree in Human Services, followed by a Master’s Degree in Social Work. She spent 25 years in the Family and Children Services Division of the Suffolk County Department of Social Services on Long Island, New York. During that time she received numerous service awards at the state and local level in recognition of her outstanding professional achievements in advocating for the needs of children and youthful victims of abuse and neglect.

Telos, Dreams, and our Continuing Human Evolution
Marley Shen-Cecilio
About the Book
We humans are still continuing to evolve into higher beings, through the actions and nurturance of our dreams and instincts. I know this to be true because as partly described in this book, I underwent the stages of these processes in the past 34 years, and still continuing. This book differentiates the Telosmor spirit from our consciousness or mind. Describes how the incorrect teachings of intellectuals since the Age of Englightenment (past 400 years) caused our human condition to deteriorate. Gives a real life example of how our evolution actually begins and the general kinds of unusual phenomena a person will undergo. Differentiates the kundalini, chakra, and other psychic energies from the Telos or spirit. Gives examples of how it feels to be “touched” by the Telos. Gives brief biography and gist of Carl Jung’s Paradigm of Individuation.About the Author
Marley Sheng-Cecilio is a Filipina. Her father was from Macao, China; her mother was from the Philippines. Her thesis from an M.A. in Literature was published in Kinaadman (Wisdom), a journal published by a consortium of Jesuit universities in Southern Philippines. This non-fiction is her first book.
