The Story Of A Man
Marvin A. Hayes
About the Book
The Story Of A Man is a collection of poems that express emotions of love, pain, laughter, wisdom and self-reflection. Poetry has always been a passion of mine and it later became the avenue to express the memory of the comings and goings of my existence. This is the reason why I chose the title, “”The Story Of A Man.”” Many of the poems were written during my years in undergrad. My college years came and went; however years later I contemplated publishing them. It was then I decided to begin the journey to publish the story of my life. When thinking about the book cover and what I wanted to express to the reader, I chose to use my drawing of Muhammad Ali. Ali is one of my favourite hero’s and a poet himself. In fact the first poem in the book is about Muhammad Ali, a man with an amazing story of struggle and triumph. I selected his picture in hope of attracting the attention of readers who understand each person has an individual story. Just like Ali we all too may experience struggles, pain, and triumph. This book also includes photos that show that my life has been very full.
The photos in the book include pictures of my wife of 50yrs. Mrs. Geraldine Elaine Robinson Hayes, and our legacy which includes my two older children and our five children which makes for 30 grandchildren. I hope that each reader enjoys the poems and pictures and it encourages them to embrace the story of their own life.

The Great Kickin’ Dog
Kenneth Crutchfield
About the Book
Ex musician, assembly line worker and alcoholic, John Coleman Sr. is a man with deferred and shattered dreams. Living in a Chicago housing project during the 60’s he is a father raising his eight-member family; four girls, two musical prodigy boys and a mentally unstable wife, in a drug, gang and gun infested environment among households with absent dads. During a competitive time of young musical prodigies, he fights for a pathway out of the projects through his talented sons. On a quest to find a way out, he drags his gifted boys on a whirlwind journey of hope, from talent shows to south side Blues clubs and observes their reputation growing with each performance. But along with the journey to see his boys “get great”, is his ongoing struggle with alcohol, his wife’s neurotic behavior and the fortified barrier of resentment from his jealous daughters all brought on by a family history of mental illness. Not only does John Coleman Sr. have to contend with the inner turmoil of his family, but a family tragedy shakes him to the core and threatens the sanctity of his high-spirited loved ones. The ‘GREAT’ Kickin’ Dog is a Black experience during a turbulent time of civil rights in the 6o’s and free spirits of the 70’s embedded in the cradle of Chicago’s segregation. It is a coming-of-age saga of passion, perseverance and the courage to rise above; a compelling story of hope and the question of fate. -

We Called Ourselves Rocketboatmen
The Untold Stories of the Top-Secret LSC(S) Rocket Boat Missions of World War II at Sicily, Salerno, Normandy (Omaha and Utah Beaches), and Southern France (80th Anniversary of D-Day Edition)
William Palmer, Jr.
About the Book
D-Day, June 6, 1944–a day never to be forgotten. More than 156,000 troops crossed the English Channel from England to Normandy, making it the largest seaborne invasion in history. Leading the pre-invasion ashore were the brave, but little known, rocketboatmen, as they called themselves. Their job, as the first close up Naval offense, was to soften up the German beach defenses with 48 rockets, machine gunnery, and smoke screening, preparing the way for the LCVP infantrymen.Through private diary entries and firsthand accounts, many read here for the first time, the unfolding of the earliest events leading up to the invasion is told in vivid and unforgettable detail. In choppy seas, oftentimes like sitting ducks in the water, these young men manned their landing craft approached the beaches at exactly 6:00 A.M.– half an hour before H-hour–unleashed their barrage of forty-eight rockets, twelve boats at Omaha, twelve at Utah Beach, lighting up the coastline like a Fourth of July grand finale. Several boats actually beached at Omaha and Utah under shell and bombardment and crossfire sustaining casualties, eliminating German coastline pill boxes.
Relive their compelling tales in this incredible story.

Shooting in the Ivory Tower
Joseph Katz
About the Book
Before presenting his thesis defense, Fredrick Davidson plants a gun
in the first-aid kit of one of the university’s science labs, preparing
for whatever might lay ahead. Sweating and delusional, he watches
the potential victims file in. When the defense is set to start, his
thesis director, Dr. Liang, offers a quick, light-hearted introduction
but delusional Fred believes that the committee is purposefully
mocking him. Enraged, he heads to the first-aid kit and begins the
rampage, eventually murdering three of his professors in cold blood.
Based on true events, Professor Joseph Katz presents this horrible
tragedy through his own eyes. In fact, his perspective is certainly
unique: he was supposed to be in the room that day but was running
late from a last-minute meeting one floor below. Shooting in the
Ivory Tower chronicles this violent event through multiple
perspectives and gives the reader insight into what led up to the
murders, based on trial coverage and first-hand discussions with the
victims and Davidson himself.About the author
Dr. Joseph Katz is a professor at San Diego State University, born in
Budapest, Hungary. He is married and has three children. Joseph
belongs to engineering organizations such as the AIAA and SAE and
enjoys restoring old cars, playing soccer, petting his cats, and driving
fast cars (he has the speeding tickets to prove). He is the author of
several books on aero/fluid mechanics including the popular Race
Car Aerodynamics: Designing for Speed.
