The Story Of A Man
Marvin A. Hayes
About the Book
The Story Of A Man is a collection of poems that express emotions of love, pain, laughter, wisdom and self-reflection. Poetry has always been a passion of mine and it later became the avenue to express the memory of the comings and goings of my existence. This is the reason why I chose the title, “”The Story Of A Man.”” Many of the poems were written during my years in undergrad. My college years came and went; however years later I contemplated publishing them. It was then I decided to begin the journey to publish the story of my life. When thinking about the book cover and what I wanted to express to the reader, I chose to use my drawing of Muhammad Ali. Ali is one of my favourite hero’s and a poet himself. In fact the first poem in the book is about Muhammad Ali, a man with an amazing story of struggle and triumph. I selected his picture in hope of attracting the attention of readers who understand each person has an individual story. Just like Ali we all too may experience struggles, pain, and triumph. This book also includes photos that show that my life has been very full.
The photos in the book include pictures of my wife of 50yrs. Mrs. Geraldine Elaine Robinson Hayes, and our legacy which includes my two older children and our five children which makes for 30 grandchildren. I hope that each reader enjoys the poems and pictures and it encourages them to embrace the story of their own life.

The final section, “Animals with Attitudes”, features four humorous mini-plays with animals (elephants, lions, housecats, and rhinoceroses) taking on Jewish characteristics and even speaking some Yiddish (translations provided).

NIGGA PLEASE!!!
Remember Who You Were Before You Were Told Who You Should Be
Patricia Meade Leonard
About the Book
Nigger is a persistent and rebellious word in the history and vocabulary of the United States of America, and plays a significant role in centuries of terrorist acts against African Americans. Yet, within the Black community, a curious familial bond with the word has existed through generations of slavery until today. Nigga Please!!! Remember Who You Were Before You Were Told Who You Should Be, presents a theory grounded in ancient and present day Ethiopian nobility which may explain why this is so, and why the ruling class found it necessary to corrupt its original sovereignty. Nigga Please juxtaposes this theory against the blasphemous language and behaviors of Rap, Gangsta Rap and aspects of Hip Hop culture intersecting with multi-ethnic versions of nigga being exploited and abused worldwide to the detriment of African American youth, young adults, and our communities. Remember Who You Were offers a basic metaphysical model for re-imaging America’s most enduring dilemma and a prescription for healing from generational traumas as we move towards restoring our people to our original greatness. The Honorable Marcus Garvey believed that “if we as a people knew the greatness from which we came, we would be less likely to disrespect ourselves.” Black survival and the rich musical legacy African Americans have contributed to the world gives us cause to celebrate our humanity and creativity. Gangsta lyrics give us nothing to be proud of.About the Author

She is the founder of Sankofa House Education which develops and presents media programs for teens, young adults, and lifetime learners. Dr. Leonard is a graduate of the City College of New York, and The American Institute of Holistic Theology. Thanks Be To God: A Minister’s Memoir
Larry LaPierre
About the Book
The author is a retired United Methodist minister and a former Department of Veterans Affairs Chief Chaplain. He writes about a series of people to whom he owes a debt of gratitude for the difference that they made in his life. When asked how he got to be a minister after working in laboratories for eighteen years, he responds, “It’s a long story but the short version of it is that I had a twenty-one year argument with God.” Most people pause and then say, “And God won.” Yes, God won! The book describes how God worked through many people to equip him to face changes in denomination, career path and education. The book originates with a desire to thank the people who helped him to make the changes that God called him to make. This, in turn, began with a decision by the United Methodist Church conference where he holds membership to limit retiring pastors to no more than a three minute talk at their retirement ceremony. He decided that there were far too many people to thank to even begin to try in a three minute speech. This book is the result of his desire to thank those who helped him as he struggled to become the person God needed him to be at each stage in his life.

Never Lose Sight of the Dark
Daniel Wolf
About the Book
Writer and humorist Daniel Wolf, a longtime observer of the many grave afflictions of modern society, believes that we are now in the midst of one of the craziest periods in human history. He regrets to say he is lacking in proposals for practical policy solutions to our many intractable problems. But taking a cue from the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates, who asserted that desperate times require desperate measures, Mr. Wolf suggests that crazy times require crazy advice. Claiming that “a distorted view of the world provides great clarity,” he offers Never Lose Sight of the Dark.Daniel Wolf intends this collection of mostly contrarian counter-wisdom to serve as a modest antidote to the monumental, shockingly profitable, and generally unhelpful self-help industry. He also hopes to provide a strong dose of amusement. But is laughter truly the best medicine? The author’s answer is an unequivocal “YES!”
About the Author
Daniel Wolf was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He retired from the Philadelphia Public School system in June 2015, having taught English as a Second Language for twenty-four years, primarily at the elementary level. In addition, from 1983 to 1993, he lived and taught English in Japan, during which time he traveled extensively both in Japan and throughout Asia.
