The Story Of A Man
Marvin A. Hayes
About the Book
The Story Of A Man is a collection of poems that express emotions of love, pain, laughter, wisdom and self-reflection. Poetry has always been a passion of mine and it later became the avenue to express the memory of the comings and goings of my existence. This is the reason why I chose the title, “”The Story Of A Man.”” Many of the poems were written during my years in undergrad. My college years came and went; however years later I contemplated publishing them. It was then I decided to begin the journey to publish the story of my life. When thinking about the book cover and what I wanted to express to the reader, I chose to use my drawing of Muhammad Ali. Ali is one of my favourite hero’s and a poet himself. In fact the first poem in the book is about Muhammad Ali, a man with an amazing story of struggle and triumph. I selected his picture in hope of attracting the attention of readers who understand each person has an individual story. Just like Ali we all too may experience struggles, pain, and triumph. This book also includes photos that show that my life has been very full.
The photos in the book include pictures of my wife of 50yrs. Mrs. Geraldine Elaine Robinson Hayes, and our legacy which includes my two older children and our five children which makes for 30 grandchildren. I hope that each reader enjoys the poems and pictures and it encourages them to embrace the story of their own life.

Here and There
A Perspective in Igbo Diaspora
Mathias Chinonyere Mgbeafulu
About the Book
This book ‘Here and There: A perspective in Igbo Diaspora’ attempts to present a concise narrative of the worldwide migration of the Igbo speaking people of Nigeria through the lens of its diaspora. The migration that produced the diaspora in its various forms is not just a response to the internal Nigerian environment, but also relates to the changing nature of the global forces. With historical insights, the author investigates the different phases in centuries of Igbo diaspora with notes on voluntary and involuntary movements. It highlights the ways in which new movements are connected to older flows, and how displacements across physical borders are intimately linked to the reworking of conceptual borders in both sending and receiving states. The book cast some new lights on the contemporary history of the Igbo through the experiences of the larger Igbo people now settled mostly across the western world, largely in North America and Britain, and is gradually spreading to Asia and the eastern hemisphere. The progenitors of these migrations left centuries ago through the Atlantic world and there are recent arrivals too who are trotting through land, sea and air. Placing the migration and diaspora settlements in historical contexts, the book shows how the experiences of Igbo in various metropoles across the world have been shaped by the social dynamics and politics of settlement locations as much as the transnational connections and the economic forces of globalization.
Around the globe, people leave their homes to better themselves, to satisfy needs, and to care for their families. They also migrate to escape undesirable conditions, ranging from paucity of economic opportunities to violent conflicts at home. This book shows how the Igbo have spread globally from its original heartland in southern Nigeria. It examines the social, economic, and political factors that propel households to decide to send members abroad, along with the cultural beliefs and traditions that can limit migration and accentuates the connections between the different phases of Igbo migratory communities. ‘Here and There’ provides a valuable portrait of the Igbo in countries other than Nigeria and articulates how Igbo diaspora can better be engaged and mobilized for maximum advantage. Issues of diaspora transnational social practice and community building, identity, institutionalized racism and the centrality of culture and homeland euphoria are highlighted and presented as fresh perspectives on relocation and resettlement. It stands as a valuable contribution to the wider literature on migration and diasporas.

I Fought the Law and I Won
Charles F. Johnson
I was formally a Federal Employee who was discriminated against by my employer. I filed a total of seven (7) EEO grievances against the Federal Government. When the administrative remedies failed, I filed suit in Federal Court.
One of my cases made it all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. I subsequently won all my cases that turned out to be one of the largest settlements in history. It took me five years to win all my cases. The 2000 Federal Census claims that there are over 146 million employed people in the U.S. and every 3 seconds one of them is discriminated against. I wanted to let these people know what happened to me, and if they are experiencing the same treatment, they have Civil Rights and can fight back.
My CO-workers and even a Federal Judge told me that I should write a book. So I wrote a tell all book in detail on this very serious problem facing the employed people of this country.
This book is a tell all book about what happened to me and how I fought back. The next book will explain just how I legally did it. It took me five years to win, but what I know today; I can help any employee in the United States do it in less than 2 years.

Chapel In My Heart
Brigitte Macko
About the Book
After everything that happened to me, I finally understood the phrase “God is a living God.” I just always assumed that miracles, healings, voices, and visions only happened during Biblical times. If he was dead, he couldn’t have saved my life every time I called his name. Mind you, I seldom had time to say a prayer, only God’s name. Sometimes I didn’t even have time for that. He is alive in our midst. Our limited human brain cannot wrap itself around it. That is why we have faith, belief, and love. These are the three key words.
About the Author
Brigitte Macko was born on March 12, 1944, during World War II in Schwabisch Gmund, West Germany. She had a strict Catholic upbringing. At the young age of five, she heard a voice in a dangerous situation. When she “obeyed,” it saved her life. She didn’t tell anyone because she couldn’t explain it. She came to Oswego, New York, in 1966 and lived in Bridgeport and Minoa, New York, until 1998. She worked for GM from 1972–1998 in Syracuse, New York, when she transferred to the Lockport plant. During her seventy-five years, she has experienced many voices, visions, supernatural events, etc. Some were downright scary and shook her to the core. She still resides in Lockport, New York. She often thought of moving after retirement, but a voice told her, “This is your home. This is where you are supposed to be.” -

Carpet Rides
Awakening
Pieter Pienaar
About the Author
“Pieter was born in Kuruman in 1964, a town which is part of the Northern Cape in South Africa, better known as the Kalahari. He studied education at teachers’ college and specialized in primary school mathematics and educational speech and drama. His university majors for the secondary school focused on languages, namely, English and Afrikaans. He started his teaching career as a teacher of English but art has always been his true passion and through a series of interesting events, he became an art teacher in 1998; he has been in the colourful classroom for the last twenty-two years. As a result of his art teaching career, he became interested in the arts therapies and embarked on further part-time studies.
In 2008 he obtained his PhD from the University of Pretoria in Learning Support, Guidance and Counselling with a dissertation entitled: The impact of narrative arts activities on the self-concept of grade 9 learners in group context. His postgraduate studies investigated the value the arts (plural) hold for self-insight. His studies opened a new door for him, which is to occasionally present motivational courses to people who require self-insight, by harnessing the therapeutic aspects of the arts to “awaken” people to their own potential. These activities he calls motivational narrative arts activities.
He is passionate about art making and believes that being creative grants us opportunities to reconnect with ourselves and to rediscover our forgotten dreams and talents. Being a full-time teacher does not allow him much time to do traditional art work on a large scale. He enjoys doing “”quick”” abstracts or spout drawings (and still life paintings – when he has time to concentrate) during school holidays. Since the completion of his PhD-studies he participated in a number of exhibitions. He has exhibited on three continents thus far.
In August 2012 he left South Africa to become an art teacher at an international school in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. In August 2016 he moved to China and accepted art teaching roles in Suzhou and Wuhan. In August 2018 he returned to Saudi Arabia. As a result of his international teaching experiences he wrote and published three books in which he describes life and his artistic ventures in his host countries. Creating a series of colouring books, based on his own work, is his latest publishing venture. His other interests are: photography, video production, creating music as an amateur, cooking, gardening and collaborating with other artists. -

Hongvan Nguyen
About the Book
It was divided into three main parts in which the first part is about author’s life in the United State, the second is about thoughts and philosophical ideas, and the third part is about author’s life back in her homeland, Vietnam.
