The Story Of A Man
Marvin A. Hayes
About the Book
The Story Of A Man is a collection of poems that express emotions of love, pain, laughter, wisdom and self-reflection. Poetry has always been a passion of mine and it later became the avenue to express the memory of the comings and goings of my existence. This is the reason why I chose the title, “”The Story Of A Man.”” Many of the poems were written during my years in undergrad. My college years came and went; however years later I contemplated publishing them. It was then I decided to begin the journey to publish the story of my life. When thinking about the book cover and what I wanted to express to the reader, I chose to use my drawing of Muhammad Ali. Ali is one of my favourite hero’s and a poet himself. In fact the first poem in the book is about Muhammad Ali, a man with an amazing story of struggle and triumph. I selected his picture in hope of attracting the attention of readers who understand each person has an individual story. Just like Ali we all too may experience struggles, pain, and triumph. This book also includes photos that show that my life has been very full.
The photos in the book include pictures of my wife of 50yrs. Mrs. Geraldine Elaine Robinson Hayes, and our legacy which includes my two older children and our five children which makes for 30 grandchildren. I hope that each reader enjoys the poems and pictures and it encourages them to embrace the story of their own life.

An Irishman by Now
An American Boy’s Tale of Passion and Discovery in Rural Ireland
R. Michael McEvilley
About the Book
““…Excellent, a rattling good story… a serious pleasure to read… (McEvilley is) a born storyteller.”–Eamonn Sweeney, literary critic, best-selling author, journalist, Cork, Ireland
Mickey Monaghan never intended to tell anyone that he was adopted. After all, his adoptive aunt and uncle had instilled in him–since age 3 when they had brought him from America to their sheep farm in Ireland—that he’d be “looked down upon” if people knew.
But at age 22, as he nears college graduation with business and political aspirations, his parish priest Father McDermott and his long-time best friend Caitlin O’Connor confront him with their own concerns for his future. Father McDermott is troubled by Mickey’s philandering lifestyle, and Caitlin by an oddly disturbing slip of his tongue about family secrets; and both Father McDermott and Caitlin can see what Mickey won’t–that he and Caitlin belong together.
Add in a death at Mickey’s hands and his reckless tryst with a married woman, and he’s ready to open up. Alas, his own secrets lead to others–and to a tale more startling than any of them had imagined.”
About the Author
R. Michael McEvilley practiced law in Cincinnati, Ohio until retirement. He now resides in Kentucky with his wife, Irish trad singer Mai. He has four children and five grandchildren. He began work on this, his first novel, after reading his newspaper horoscope suggesting he “do something creative.”

Eastside Crazy
Kwanna Bradley
About the Book
Surviving to see another day was always the mission. Before she was able to hit puberty, Kwanna found herself making adult decisions. The pressure from the streets was on. While the pot of dysfunction was broiling at home. There was nothing else left for her to do but pack her bags and take that walk down the boulevard of broken dreams. After adopting the streets as her family she went on to become a notorious gang member who was well known all across the city. In the streets it was an accomplishment to be a female who was respected.Remaining loyal to the brotherhood, putting in the work to show and prove herself, Kwanna and the children she came up with were literally products of chaos, genocide, and self-destruction. They were a generation that was fearless, had no conscious, no direction and held no punches. The only thing they had was each other and that was enough.
After all the countless funerals and multiple trips to jail. Kwanna begins to reap all the seeds she had sown which had grasped her attention to change. Most children grow up preparing for which prominent university they plan to attend. That was not the case for Kwanna and majority of her peers. Eastside Crazy is introduced as the sophomore literature that is connected to a 4-part memoir series based on her life. She triumphantly shares her growing pains as she continues to embark on her journey to the road of redemption.Eastside Crazy takes the readers back to the beginning of her journey by defining how inner city children respond to their environments. These subjects and more are all covered in the reading to invite the reader to mentally illustrate and stimulate a new programming of the mind.

Desert Journey
A Novel
Dr. Jerry Burgener
About the Book
Time and experiences had left lines on my face, which had grown deeper, like the dusty trails of my life that I seemed to be retracing. Reeling from yet another relationship failure, Jerry travels to the American Southwest to spend a couple of months riding his horse, savoring the warm weather, and finding respite from the daily grind. But what begins as a simple escape to the wide-open spaces of Arizona soon becomes a powerful odyssey of self-discovery. When Jerry comes upon an Indian named Tom in the middle of the Superstition Mountains, he senses that the meeting is no casual encounter. Wise and unreserved, Tom speaks to Jerry with a knowingness that both unnerves and captivates him. Jerry is compelled to return to the mountain again and again to accept Tom’s challenges, exercises, and assignments for living in the moment, tuning into the love all around him, and honoring a connection to Spirit. With Tom as his guide, Jerry uses dreams and visions of his own past lives to make sense of his modern reality. Tom’s lessons cause Jerry to question long-held beliefs, but they also afford him the insight he needs to move beyond pain and make his metaphysical journey toward inner peace and enlightenment.About the Author
Dr. Jerry Burgener grew up in Illinois, but now lives full time in Arizona. He received his PhD from Southern Illinois University, and spent most of his career as a forensic psychologist. Dr. Jerry has also ridden and trained horses in Illinois and Arizona.
