The Story Of A Man
Marvin A. Hayes
About the Book
The Story Of A Man is a collection of poems that express emotions of love, pain, laughter, wisdom and self-reflection. Poetry has always been a passion of mine and it later became the avenue to express the memory of the comings and goings of my existence. This is the reason why I chose the title, “”The Story Of A Man.”” Many of the poems were written during my years in undergrad. My college years came and went; however years later I contemplated publishing them. It was then I decided to begin the journey to publish the story of my life. When thinking about the book cover and what I wanted to express to the reader, I chose to use my drawing of Muhammad Ali. Ali is one of my favourite hero’s and a poet himself. In fact the first poem in the book is about Muhammad Ali, a man with an amazing story of struggle and triumph. I selected his picture in hope of attracting the attention of readers who understand each person has an individual story. Just like Ali we all too may experience struggles, pain, and triumph. This book also includes photos that show that my life has been very full.
The photos in the book include pictures of my wife of 50yrs. Mrs. Geraldine Elaine Robinson Hayes, and our legacy which includes my two older children and our five children which makes for 30 grandchildren. I hope that each reader enjoys the poems and pictures and it encourages them to embrace the story of their own life.

The final section, “Animals with Attitudes”, features four humorous mini-plays with animals (elephants, lions, housecats, and rhinoceroses) taking on Jewish characteristics and even speaking some Yiddish (translations provided).

Racist Bones in President Trump’s Body
M.P. PRABHAKARAN
About the Book
“Your pen is your biggest enemy” is the kind of warning M. P. Prabhakaran says he used to receive from his friends every time he published a provocative social or political commentary. He published them in The East-West Inquirer, an online monthly, of which he is editor and publisher. He has cited the warning in the preface to this book. The preface also says that, pointing to the subject of the commentary, those well-meaning friends would follow their warning with the question: “Why bother, if it doesn’t affect you in any way?”
In response, the preface goes on to say, Prabhakaran would throw the words, “Why bother, if it doesn’t affect you in any way?” back at them and then add: “History is full of examples of the disastrous consequences of this attitude.” He would remind his friends that the powers that be got away with the atrocious things they did because people were either too scared to speak up or the atrocious things did not affect them personally. To emphasize the point, Prabhakaran would draw their attention to the immortal words of the Lutheran pastor Martin Niemöller:
“When the Nazis arrested the Communists, I said nothing; after all, I was not a Communist….
When they arrested me, there was no longer anyone who could protest.” [The English translation is by Bob Berkovitz.]
This book is a collection of some of the articles published in The East-West Inquirer over the past two decades. The articles are Prabhakaran’s ways of speaking truth to power.About the Author
Most of his working life, M. P. Prabhakaran straddled two professions: journalism and teaching. He started his career in journalism, in 1969, as a cub reporter on Current, a weekly newspaper (now defunct) published from Bombay (now Mumbai).
He then moved on, as a sub-editor (called copy editor in the U.S.), to March of the Nation, another Bombay-based English weekly (also defunct now); and then to Free Press Journal, one of India’s leading English dailies.
After immigrating to the U.S. in 1975, he worked as the editor, first of The Voice of India, a monthly, and then of South Asia Newsspecial, a news and feature syndicate.
Side by side with his journalistic work, he also pursued a Ph.D. in Political Science, at The New School for Social Research, New York. After completing the Ph.D., in 1988, he taught for several years as an adjunct professor of political science, at the City University of New York. Teaching has always been Prabhakaran’s second love, the first being journalism. It started as a math teacher at a village high school in his native Indian State of Kerala.
Since 2001, he has been travelling extensively and posting his travel experience on The East-West Inquirer, an online monthly he started that year. The monthly, published at www.eastwestinquirer.com, also carries his social and political commentaries.
Prabhakaran has authored four other books: An Indian Goes Around the World – I: Capitalism Comes to Mao’s Mausoleum; An Indian Goes Around the World – II: What I Learned from My Thirty-Day European Odyssey; Letters on India The New York Times Did Not Publish, which is a collection of some of the letters he sent to The Times over three decades; and The Historical Origin of India’s Underdevelopment: A World-System Perspective, which is an expanded version of his doctoral dissertation.
M. P. Prabhakaran can be reached by email at [email protected] or [email protected]. -
C is for Colored
Larry J. Ford, M.D.
About the Author
Dr. Larry James Ford was born September 1, 1951, in Albany, Georgia. In 1956 at the age of four, his family moved to Aberdeen, Maryland, and later to have a Havre de Grace, Maryland, where he grew up and attended the Havre de Grace Consolidated School, C1, a legally, racially segregated school, from 1957 to 1964. He attended Havre de Grace High School, an integrated school, from 1964 to 1969, graduating as vice president of his class, a lettering member of the football team, and an officer in the National Honor Society.
He has four siblings, an older sister, Patricia, and three younger, Wayne, Pamela, and Pelbea. Continuing his education, he attended Syracuse University for one year, and then transferred to the Johns Hopkins University, where he graduated in 1973. He then attended the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, in New York City, graduating in 1977. Afterwords, he did an internal medicine residency at the University of California- San Francisco. He began his practice in Georgia in the US Public Health Service and has also practiced in Alaska and California before retiring in 2011.
Dr. Ford’s retirement from medicine came after being diagnosed with systemic mastocytosis, a rare clonal disorder, which affects a white blood cell important to the immune system, affecting multiple organ systems. There is no specific treatment, and the disease has an incidence of 1 in 10,000 people, or a total of 30,000 individuals diagnosed in the U.S. with it.
One of the most memorable experiences he has had, related to the book, was sitting down with one of his teachers from the Consolidated School, Mrs. Mabel Hart, before starting to write. At the time of the release of the book, she was 104, and had recently published a book of her own. Throughout his professional life and journey, he was able to repeatedly call upon the commonsense knowledge and wisdom imparted by his teachers, which was needed to handle the many challenging situations he would face.
In 2020, he returned to his hometown, where he completed “C is for Colored,” and continues to enjoy his passion for playing music, spending lots of time with his guitars (playing anything slow), reading and honing his photographic skills. He has twin daughters, Lauren and Leslie, and he tries to hang out with his grandchildren, Isabel, Eli, and Karina, whenever possible. They call him “Lolo,” and all remember and laugh about him, as being moderately obsessed with anything having to do with mathematics, and the related game of craps. -
Lincoln
Orville Evjen
About the Book
This graphic novel is based early life of Abraham Lincoln from his childhood to winning the Presidency of the United States.
From an early age, Lincoln loved reading and he loved reading about history. His favorite President was George Washington, our first President. Lincoln’s rocky childhood and his relationship with his father are some points I emphasized in this book. Along with his religious views, Abe Lincoln had very strong views on his dislike for slavery. He spent his adult life as a lawyer fighting for the rights of others.
This book also focuses on the hidden world that we never see, the spiritual world. Throughout his life Abe had a war going on around him. Through his struggle with love and family, his battle with melancholy was his most difficult. Using the realm of the supernatural is one way this book deals with his struggles. In the end, these struggles made Abe stronger for the hard years to come during the civil war.
Losing his mother, sister, and then his best friend Ann Rutledge was the beginning of his dark days. But his strong will to live and his love of life pulled him through. Everywhere Abe went he was well-liked and he loved to tell funny tales.
The book ends with Abe becoming the 16th President of the United States. This sets the stage for book 2 of Lincoln.
About the Author
Orville Evjen was born in 1974 and grew up in western South Dakota on a farm and ranch until the age of 18, then moved to North Dakota. He loves to read comics and watch cartoons, which is why illustrating is so attractive to him. His favorite subject is history, also nonfiction, but fantasy catches his eye as well. His Great Grandmother on his mother’s side, (who is Native American) often spoke of ghost stories which began his curiosity for fantasy and storytelling.

I’ve Been There…I Feel Your Pain
eWw
About the Book
At the time in my life when I decided to put my life together, from the years which had passed by, I would express to my friends the different situations I had been in and out of. At that time, most couldn’t relate to the issues that presented itself and all suggested that I should write about that which took place during those time in my life. It painful. As I continued to work on it, I realized it wasn’t for me, but someone that maybe going thru similar situations that could possibly need help to get them thru as it did for me thru it all. I found my purpose and reason that made me the person I am today, many years later. I thank my Heavenly Father, In the name of Jesus, for never leaving, me and bringing me to where I am today and who I have become. I had to be broken to be made whole in my Father’s eyes for him to be able to use me. I will serve him till my last breathe for choosing me. Thank you, Abba-Father, in your son Jesus the Christ’s name for loving me, using me, and never leaving me… Your Daughter…with Love. EWAbout the Author

Halftime Hustler
Ralph Sanders
About the Book
Facing 350 years to life, it seems unreal and yet it was very real for me in 1996. My life was turned upside down and my hopes and dreams of playing in the NBA were shattered because of my poor choices; choices that ultimately sent me to prison for 15 years and changed my path in life. While I am still haunted by the fact that I am a two-striker and can easily fall back in to the system according to the 3-strike law, I am a changed man who sees life differently and whose mission now is to help youth not fall into the temptations that I faced. We all face trials and challenges in our lives. My story, while perhaps more dramatic than the average person, is a testament as to how one can not only survive difficult circumstances but can also come out stronger for having lived through them. My hope is to inspire and encourage readers to live their best life and to appreciate the freedoms that we all have in this country.”
About the Author
Ralph Sanders is now currently working as a mentor at Juveniles At Risk, where he counsels youth and helps to find them employment.
He currently resides in Northern California with his wife and young daughter, where they attend church regularly. He enjoys playing and coaching basketball and hanging out with his family.
Future goals include going back in to the system as a motivational speaker to inmates and to those on parole and living in half-way houses. -

An Expose: The Real Truth
Rev. Dr. Keren Micha-el Stein, DLittS
About the Author
Writing quality non-fiction is my passion, and the current book presentation, after 2 years of research of a very personal nature, required a mere two weeks to write with few changes. There are other major works in various stages (two on miracles and other visions, and more on solid Christian teachings covering a wide variety of subjects), and I have written and published online more than 50 minor works.
Additional current activities, over the decades, include preaching revivals, teaching, seminars on Christian values, informational/inspirational speaking in women’s groups, Bible studies (mine and others), and numerous professional speaker/broker engagements, created a unique Last Chance Ministry for those during the known end stages of life, even in a coma on machines who may not yet be born again, locally appeared for organizations, colleges, and home school groups, officiated weddings and funerals, TV (my own ministry program), first movie at age 8, appeared on Walker Texas Ranger TV series, guest appearances on various radio programs, and oil paintings showing the glory of G-d’s handiwork in creation.
Entering into full time ministry in 1984, pioneered my first church (In the Love of God Church) in 1980s, travelled worldwide by invitation only with G-d faithfully doing awesome miracles, started the online ministry and church in 1990s ( Church Without Walls, issued worldwide), and recently established a third church, G-d’s Remnant Church in 2016.
Through the years, I have received various awards, and was in the “Who’s Who in Women’s Ministry” for two years consecutively (unfortunately they only published 3 years), a member of MENSA International since 1974 (an organization for the top 2% of intelligence in the world), have 24 hours everyday to plan and devote to each day’s tasks as needed; and as I am a professional capable of rising to the occasion to serving G-d.
All of my books are published for the benefit and maturing of the everyday saint and those who care for them as well, how to be a better and more informed Christian, and inspire to a higher life and service for G-d.
My devotion to working with and for G-d to accomplish what He wants is uppermost at all times. -
I Can Do This
Laura Mae Murphy
About the Book
This book, these Stories, were intended to be used by anyone who has the ability to help these individuals fit in wherever they go. If teachers could use these stories to introduce the problem and possibly the solution to the students prior to the introduction of the student with special needs or problems, there wouldn’t be so much apathy in the world. In using animals instead of names, there is no chance of anyone misunderstanding and transferring any of these topics onto anyone specific.
I’ve tried to cover as many issues as I could: communication, deafness, blindness, birth defects, epilepsy, amputees, etc. But the most important goal is acceptance. There could be role playing (i.e., someone could be the cow or the beaver or the iguana). Interaction could play an important role in getting the message across.
About the Author
Laura Mae (Lewis, Murphy) was born in Philadelphia as number two of nine children. She and her family moved twenty-three times in seventeen years, and she often went to three schools a year. Each move brought challenges, trying to catch up academically while trying to fit in socially.Deafness runs in her family and she is raising a mentally challenged daughter, Dawn Rene, who has right temporal lobe epilepsy and is bipolar. At forty-five, she functions at a 4.6 level but her biggest handicap is that she looks normal and everyone expects her to be normal. She becomes flustered and sometimes doesn’t understand why they don’t understand.
